This 6-day North-East India tour begins with your arrival in Darjeeling, renowned for its breathtaking views of the Himalayas and tea plantations. Day 2 takes you to Tiger Hill at sunrise, followed by visits to Ghoom Monastery, Batasia Loop, and other local highlights. Next, you journey to Kalimpong, a peaceful hill station known for its scenic beauty, where you’ll explore Deolo Hill, Mangal Dham, and more. On Day 4, travel to Gangtok, the vibrant capital of Sikkim, surrounded by lush greenery. Day 1 :

Arrival in Darjeeling Arrive at Bagdogra Airport and proceed to Darjeeling (6,710 ft.).

Check into your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure, taking in the cool, fresh mountain air. Darjeeling is famous for its tea plantations, colonial charm, and jaw-dropping views of the Himalayan ranges. Overnight stay at Darjeeling.

Day 02 :

Darjeeling – The Queen of the Hills

Early Morning Adventure: Rise and shine at 4:00 AM for a trip to Tiger Hill. Watch the stunning sunrise as the golden rays illuminate Mt. Khangchendzongha, the world’s 3rd highest peak (28,208 ft.). On the way back, visit Ghoom Monastery and Batasia Loop, offering breathtaking panoramic views.
After Breakfast: Explore the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, visit P.N. Zoological Park (closed on Thursdays), Tenzing Rock, the Tibetan Refugee Self-help Centre (closed on Sundays), and enjoy an outer view of Darjeeling’s iconic Tea Gardens. Don’t miss the Ropeway and a peaceful visit to the Japanese Temple.
Evening: Spend your time shopping for souvenirs or relaxing at your own pace. Overnight stay at Darjeeling.

Day 03 :

Darjeeling to Kalimpong

After Breakfast: Depart for Kalimpong (4,100 ft.), a peaceful hill station known for its scenic beauty and rich history.
Afternoon: After checking into your hotel, embark on a half-day tour of Kalimpong. Visit Mangal Dham, Deolo Hill (for mesmerizing views), Dr. Graham’s Home, the charming Golf Garden, Durpin Dara Hills, and the lovely Flower Nurseries.
Evening at Leisure: Enjoy a quiet evening in Kalimpong, surrounded by its serene landscapes. Overnight stay at Kalimpong.

Day 04 :

Kalimpong to Gangtok

After Breakfast: Head towards Gangtok (5,480 ft.), the capital of Sikkim. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and spend the evening exploring this vibrant city, nestled in the lush greenery of the Eastern Himalayas.
Overnight Stay: Rest comfortably at your hotel in Gangtok.

Day 05 :

Excursion to Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir

After Breakfast: Get ready for a full-day excursion to Tsomgo Lake (12,400 ft.) and Baba Mandir (13,200 ft.), about 55 km away from Gangtok. The drive offers stunning views, and both destinations are steeped in cultural and natural beauty.
Note: In case of road closures due to landslides or other unforeseen reasons, alternative sightseeing options will be provided.
Overnight Stay: Return to Gangtok for a restful night.

Day 06 :

Departure

After Breakfast: Check out from your hotel and transfer to NJP Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport for your onward journey. Bid farewell to the breathtaking beauty of the North-East as you head back to Delhi and onward to Dehradun.

How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Annapurna Base Camp is a Grade B or a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will too, you can.

How long do we walk every day when doing Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.

What is the highest altitude reached in this trek?

The highest altitude reached is 4190m. This is the elevation of Annapurna Base Camp. ABC is the highest we will climb in this trek.

What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

Yes, you can charge batteries en route. Charger should be brought. There are hot shower facilities as well. You may have to pay a certain amount for both ($1-$2). Negotiate. Also, a hot water facility could be free at a lower elevation.

Are there ATMs on the way to Annapurna Base Camp?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Pokhara or Kathmandu. There are a number of ATMs in these cities. Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. So money should be exchanged before the start of the trek.

What about internet access?

Yes. The Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. The Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.

Is it necessary to hire Guides/trekking agency for Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

Not really. It depends on you. If you want, ABC trekking can be done independently. You could hire a guide and a porter by yourself instead of going through an agency or not hire a guide at all. Although, not having a guide can be a little problematic during the offseason.

It really depends on you. Is it your first time in Nepal? How confident are you of being able to find your way around? How pressed on time are you? If you go through an agency, it will be costlier but everything will be planned. You will only have to come, trek and return.

How much do guides and porters cost?

For the Annapurna region, pay for guides range from $20 to $30 per day and porters take $15 to $25 per day.
